Long weekend
Well I took Friday off work, and had a scheduled holiday for MLK jr. Day yesterday...so we had a long weekend...
We had no plans...we had no clue what we were going to do...

We got a call saying my Grandma 'was slipping away' so we packed up and left with in the hour on a few hundred mile trip to see her....

I was not prepared enough for what I saw....it was heart breaking...my poor Grandma was beyond sick...to me she looked as if she was near death...and that was hard to take in.....
There was a lot of people there this weekend...family from Ohio flew in to visit her as well....she wasn't really 'with it' but knew we were there...she spoke a few words but they were few and far between. She had to be reminded to swallow when being spoon fed her meal....and told to swallow when drinking her thickened water.

She layed in her hospital bed in the living room for the entire time....being moved from side to side every now and then as to prevent bed sores...

I'm really not sure how much longer she can go on like this...but she's in pain...and I don't like it...
She was always the best grandma! She accepted anyone and everything...she was nice to everyone :)
I had to come back...I had to work...it was hard to leave her.....I'm not sure if I'll get to see her again...........

Oh sweetie, I am so sorry... I know how hard that is, but at least you were there before and that will bring you comfort. I wish there were something I could do or say. Hang in there, and sorry you don't feel well. Keep working to take your mind off of it.

I'm sorry about your Grandma, B. When my Grandma passed away, we sat at her bedside for a full week while she slipped away. It was the most heartbreaking thing I have ever been through, and I know how you must feel. *hugs*
